What is Tele-therapy?
Tele-therapy is when a mental health therapist provides therapy through a live video connection over the internet or via telephone. You are provided the same treatment as you would if you attended an in-person session, it's just done through a computer! If you've ever used Skype on your computer or FaceTime on your iPhone, you've used the same type of technology teletherapy uses.
Potential Tele-Therapy Patients
Many different people can benefit from tele-therapy including children, teens, adults, families, and couples. People may be struggling with depression or anxiety, grief and loss, conflict within their families or with their partner, as well as a variety of other issues.
Insurance and Tele-Therapy
Due to the current COVID 19 public health crisis, tele-therapy is currently being covered by the majority of insurance companies. You will want to call the number on the back of your insurance card to ensure tele-therapy is covered. Charis is currently in-network with Aetna, BCBS, BCN, Cofinity, Priority Health, McClaren, Meridian, and Medicare. Your insurance may require a copay or co-insurance for tele-therapy as it does with in-person sessions.
How do I get started?
Call our office at (989) 340-1466 or fill out our New Patient Inquiry Form. Our intake coordinator will gather information from you including the reason you are seeking therapy, your availability, and your insurance information. If we feel that our organization can help meet your needs, a therapist will be assigned to your care. Sometimes, your needs are better met through another organization. We will provide you referrals to assist you in getting the care you need.
